HIMSS EMRAM and the Master of Digital Health at VickinoDay

Dr Robin Vicken Ohannessian presenting HIMSS EMRAM at VickinoDay

At VickinoDay, AADH President Dr Robin Vicken Ohannessian, MD MPH PhD, presented the HIMSS EMRAM framework and explained how AADH carried out the first EMRAM assessment in Armenia in 2025, together with Erebuni Medical Center.

What is HIMSS EMRAM?

The HIMSS Electronic Medical Record Adoption Model (EMRAM) is an international framework that measures how far a hospital has gone in using electronic medical records and digital tools to support safe, high-quality care. It gives hospitals a clear roadmap from paper-based processes to fully digital care.

Where Armenia stands

Hospital information system (HIS) maturity is still low in Armenia, and there is a lot of work to be done. A key next step is a national HIS maturity audit, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, to understand the current situation and guide the digital transformation of healthcare.

Key points

  • First HIMSS EMRAM assessment in Armenia: Erebuni Medical Center, 2025
  • HIS maturity in Armenian hospitals is still low
  • Next step: a national HIS maturity audit with the Ministry of Health
